Currently we have many committee posts that are headless, so to speak. We are in need of a Chairperson for the following:
- Adult Education
- Communications
- Social Action
- Membership (Doug Singer is currently Chair but needs to apprentice a replacement)
In addition to this, there are several board vacancies that need to be filled. Although we did install 4 new board members in replace of outgoing members, there still exist vacancies. Lastly, we are in the process of finding new board members to represent
The functions performed by these committees and board members are what make up the essence of our Jewish Social Life. Continuing to learn Judaism, creating processes that allow us to communicate better
amongst ourselves and throughout the community, performing acts of social justice within the greater
On a completely different note, I would like to let you know about our former long time custodian Raul Sotelo (Rudy). Rudy, some time ago, became ill to the point where he was not able to perform the duties of his position anymore. We had hoped that he would recover to a point that would allow him to return but
such was not the case. Rudy served our community from 1998 until this past March. He had been a dedicated employee who not only grew to be part of our family but became one whom we could count on day and night. It is with great sadness that we now have to move on.
As a part of saying goodbye to Rudy and acknowledging his dedication to our community, I would like to give him a gift from all of us. For Rudy and his family, the best gift that can be given now is money. This would go a long way to helping pay for some medical bills and other unexpected costs that I know have been incurred since he has not been able to work.
