President's Column - October

Over the past several years Sherri Faler has worked as the Volunteer Coordinator for our congregation. This position was initially charged with enhancing the level of participation and volunteerism within our congregation. Additionally, she was to assist the Rabbi with everything from picking up challahs for Shabbat to taking meals to those in need. The position was slated to be in place for a 2 year period and has lasted about a year and half past that period.

During this time period Sherri has had many successes. She has collected vast amounts of data pertaining to our membership, she has helped many committees become successful, active and integral parts of our community and she has been a very big help to our rabbi which allows him to concentrate on rabbinical duties. In short, she has helped our congregation advance itself during the time that she has worked in this position.

It has been decided that it is time to phase out the position, step back and evaluate the progress that has been made and decide how to best utilize the resources going forward.

I would like to personally thank Sherri for all that she has done. This was a tough job addressing one of the biggest issues that we face as a congregation. I know that at times the job was frustrating; however, I also know that it was very rewarding too. I guess this is the case with anything that you are passionate about and Sherri was definitely passionate when it came to being our Volunteer Coordinator. A debt of gratitude is owed for her efforts. If you see her in the halls, please pass on your appreciation.

As most of you know our former custodian, Rudy Sotelo, has left our employment is now on disability.

We wish to thank Rudy for his years of service to Temple Emanuel and the Temple Emanuel Family.

In doing so, we are collecting donations to be presented to Rudy early this fall.  If you would like to make a donation please do so by sending a check payable to Temple Emanuel with the notation that it is for Rudy’s Fund.  All checks should be sent to Temple.

Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness.

I look forward to seeing everyone in the coming weeks for our High Holiday season. If there is anything that we can do to make this season better for you, please let us know and we will do all we can to accommodate.
