December 2011

As I write this months newsletter Temple has been and continues to be very busy this fall. This past weekend we had a very successful Saturday night event sponsored by the Tom & Mickie Fox Family Endowment.

On November 11 we had a Jazz Shabbat featuring the amazing pool of musical talent that we have within our community. On November 18 we honored Raul (Rudy) Sotelo for his years of service at Temple. We presented him with the gift that we have collected over the past few months and I am proud to say that it was a healthy sum of money. I thank the entire community for giving Rudy a proper goodbye.

Soon you will see a new face roaming the halls of Temple Emanuel. Our personal committee has been working over the past 2 months searching for a new custodian. Our new custodian will be starting on December 1st. I will have a more formal announcement after we complete the hiring process.

As I had announced at High Holidays, I am assembling a committee to research, fundraise and oversee installation of the hearing loop for our Sanctuary. Our effort will be called, "Hear, O Israel". If that doesn't have the right buzz we are also thinking, "The Magical Talking Carpet". Well, it’s obvious we need to give both a little thought. Anyway, so far our committee consists of Mort Finkelstein, Aleta Katonak, Rabbi Lewis and myself. I am looking for 2 to 3 more members who have a passion for this issue and a flair for marketing. Please contact me if you are interested.

I wish that all have a Happy Chanukah and don't forget that our gift shop is now full of Chanukah goods. Thanks to Susan Schadick for making arrangements for us to have all we need to celebrate the holiday. Please support the Temple by buying your Chanukah supplies at our gift shop.
