During the spring or their 10th grade year, Temple Emanuel students at Beit Sefer B'yachad, United Jewish School, have break out sessions to prepare for their confirmation under the direction of Rabbi Schadick. 

Confirmation is held each spring in conjunction with the celebration of the holiday of Shavuot.*

* Shavuot is Hebrew for 'weeks.' It refers to the Jewish festival marking the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Shavuot, like many Jewish holidays, began as an ancient agricultural festival, indicating the end of the spring barley harvest and the beginning of the summer wheat harvest. In ancient times Shavuot was marked by bringing crop offerings to the Temple in Jerusalem.
